The Creative Hearts Extended Day program partners seamlessly with Community Nursery School, in order to create a positive, encouraging experience for your child. The curriculum is thoughtfully planned from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave, mixing fun, creatively enriching activities, with those which develop empathy, compassion, and self awareness.

While providing you with an extra hour and half of childcare, Creative Hearts also acts as a great precursor for Kindergarten. In addition to a slightly longer day, our classes cultivate confidence and personal awareness. Our staff works to ease transitions, supporting children through lunch time, social competency, and emotional strain. Thus empowering them to use the tools they already possess in Kindergarten and beyond.

A day in our program looks like this:

Art Class

Our students will have 45 minutes of art time to explore materials such as paint, pastel, marker, clay, plaster, wood, fabric, and found objects. We will develop techniques such as printmaking, weaving, sculpture, tracing, collage, and casting. The art lessons not only foster creativity and freedom of expression, but develop many skills including: confidence, focus, dedication, problem solving, and fine motor skills. We remind our kids to trust their own voice and instincts as artists. We encourage our budding artists to experiment and explore, and that you can't compare your art (or yourself) with anyone else. Because we each have our own magic to share.

Lunch

In the 45 minutes of lunch and movement time, we begin by eating lunch packed from home. We practice opening containers and how to clean up, with assistance as needed. As practice for eating on their own next year, we periodically remind them to eat their "biggest thing first," (ie, the thing that provides our body with the biggest amount of energy). After eating, kids are taught how to close containers tightly and clean up their space. Lunch time at Creative Hearts serves as the perfect prep for Kindergarten, slowly helping them become more independent.

Movement Games

Each child is given space to finish lunch at their own pace, after which they transition over to music and movement games. Each day we offer different activities including
yoga, building with blocks, playing instruments, dress up clothes, obstacle courses, dancing with scarves or various imagination based games (like transforming into animals or silly creatures). Our movement games always focus on fun, silliness, collaboration, and gross motor skills. When we're done each day, we always work together to help clean up the space, developing our communication and teamwork skills.

Base Program Pricing:

Only $40 per class!
The discounted price for registering for all 5 days is $38 per class.

You have the option to pay all at once or in two or three installments.

2-DAY PROGRAM

The price for our 2-day program is $1,120 or $40/class.

3-DAY PROGRAM

The price for our 3-day program is $1,680 or $40/class.

5-DAY PROGRAM

The price for our full week program is $2,660 or $38/class.

We follow the CNS calendar for all holiday breaks and weather related closings.

NEW* Extended Day Offering!

Looking for a little more time in your day and even more enrichment at Creative Hearts? We're so excited to announce our new extended day option! This new extended program allows families to add an additional 45 minutes onto your child's day at Creative Hearts and pick them up at 2pm instead of our usual end time at 1:15pm. These extra 45 minutes will allow kids to dive into specialty art activities, custom-made sensory bins and spend time playing outside. Past students have always looked for ways to spend more time with us at Creative Hearts and we're now able to provide that extra time! This is the perfect way to give students more time to build deeper connections, engage in enrichment activities and get their hands into new projects all while preparing them for a longer day at kindergarten next year!

Extended Day Pricing:

This is the pricing for the extended time only. It will be added to the total cost of the base program.

2-DAY PROGRAM

3-DAY PROGRAM

The price for our Extended 3-day program is $920.

The price for our Extended full week program is $1,540.

FAQ's

How do I register for a class?   You can register by clicking the "Register Here" link above! If you don't plan on completing enrollment today, please fill out the parent/child information and send us a nonrefundable $100 deposit via paypal to secure your child's spot! This deposit will be deducted from the overall cost of the program of your choosing.

Can I pick the days my child attends class? For this year, we have expanded the registration options that you can enroll your child in. In order to best accommodate the different students and classes, our Tues-Thurs classes must be purchased as a package. We're sorry for any inconvenience!

Can I sign up for just the base program or just the extended day option?   For this year, we are unable to offer registration on customized days. In order to best accommodate the different students and classes, we are only offering registration for our 2-day program, running on Mondays & Fridays, our 3-day program, running Tuesday-Thursday, and our 5-day program, running Monday-Friday. We're sorry for any inconvenience!

What should my child wear? Normally we provide smocks for messy art projects, but in order to keep children safe, we will not be using smocks this year. So on Creative Hearts days we recommend sending your child "dressed for a mess", in clothes that are ok to get glue or paint on. Additionally, please send your child in shoes they can run in.

What happens on staff development days?
During CNS's staff development days, we run on a delayed schedule.
      The children are walked upstairs from CNS at 11am. Children will be dismissed from Creative Hearts at 12:30pm. If your child is staying for the Extended Time Add-On, dismissal will be moved to 1:15pm.

Do you offer make ups?   We only offer make ups for the classes that we have to cancel, while CNS is open. If you miss a class, or if a class gets canceled due to inclement weather, we cannot guarantee a make up. However, if there is space in the week, we'll do our best to accommodate you.

What happens during snow days?   We follow CNS's schedule. If they close for a snow day, we are closed as well.

I'm gonna be late! Who should I call? Please call or text Emily at 914-620-2772

Where is all my child's art? We keep most of your child's artwork in their special "art portfolio" until the end of year, when we'll display it in our annual end of year art show! We'll announce the time and date when it gets close, but we usually hold it in early June. All artwork gets sent home at the end of the show.

My child doesn't attend Community Nursery school. Can we still join the program?   Absolutely! If space permits, you are welcome to join us on Fridays, which is our open registration day. Refund Policy
If you need to cancel your child's enrollment for any reason:

UP TO 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS:
You can receive a full refund or credit for any class in the future

AFTER 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS:
Refunds or credits are not available. We will not be able to provide refunds or credits if you decide to unenroll your child after 2 weeks before the start of class
